CBC Calgary Reads Book Sale!!!

For the past couple of months I have been volunteering for the CBC Calgary reads book sale. An event that relies on donations and sells books to public and all proceeds go towards children's literacy.

Today I was fortunate enough to attend the presale and it was great!! They provided snacks and displayed the community book trade boxes (the name has slipped my mind).

Here are just a couple of the AMAZING finds my sister (#2) and I found.

Book Lust is a librarians readers advisory guide. So excited to read it! Weird things customers say in bookstores is hilarious, I'm loving it. Excited to read boy meets boy. Heard it was a good one!!

Here are a couple more!!

Children's books !

 Cookbooks
And the calgary flood book was a steal! So fortunate I found that one

My bbt season 2 has gone missing - so I bought another!
The natural history BBC DVD collection was amazing - originally $200! Got it for $5. What's up!
The national geographic collection was incredible as well. So lucky I found that

We calculated the retail total of all the items - $652.23 in total

WE PAID $47.00.
Holy cow.

Come to the sale this weekend for a deal and fun times!!!! Books, DVDs, and CDs for everyone. Even amazing collectables that are definitely worth checking out.

It's at the calgary curling club on memorial. It's for a good cause! Hope to see you there 😺

20 pound grocery trip

I rode my bike to the gym today and on my way back I decided to stop at save on foods.
Of course I forgot I rode my bike to the store and I bought A LOT of groceries.
Luckily I managed to fit them all in my gym bag but it was a heavy ride back home. I weighed myself and I was 20 POUNDS heavier....

All the hills were not easy. My quads will be sore tomorrow 💪 better sore than sorry

Here's my grocery haul!

Almond milk
Greek yogurt
Peas
Raspberries
Blackberries
Lentil soup mix
Coconut milk
Tofu
Cashews
Granola
Chia seeds

It was worth the trip. Now I'm going to treat myself to yogurt, berries and granola and watch the bachelorette.

Sizzler for the first time

Wow.
Call us crazy but we went to sizzler for the first time today.

WAS THAT EVER NEATO MOSQUITO.

Step 1: order your meal
I ordered endless salad bar
My sisters ordered steak

Step 2: order your side
Broccoli and fries

Step 3: drink ?
Lemonade all around

Step 4: pay - they give you your tip in cash to put on the table later

Step 5: be your own hostess

Step 6: go to the salad bar and select from the many opportunities.
We loaded on veggies, fried chicken, salad, and tacos. We would've gotten more but there was no more room!

Then get your meal.

The best part was dessert. I grabbed two bowls with no shame.
If there's a self serve soft serve - I'm there so fast.

We're defs coming back.

This makes you think of Britney's not a girl not yet a woman.

Not a buffet - not yet a restaurant

Cherry coke, double dessert, and dressing for less

Fun day today!

We started off with a nice drive into Whitefish. Spent some time and took some pictures at city beach!
Then we drove to find big mountain - we had so much fun when we went in August last year. BUT I fell asleep and when I woke up we were not there... So I got some cherry coke.

Then we walked around downtown whitefish. Went into some you shops, souvenir shops and just browsed. But it started raining pretty hard so we went back to Kalispell!

Then we did a triple shop stop at tj maxx, Ross, and target! Always a staple in a state trip!

Here are some of my buys:

The last one is a gift for sister #1 for absence purposes.

Then we went back to the hotel to nap and read (and make this post).

Last day tomorrow - then back to calgary!

Floats, mansion, cats, and emergency rain gear

Another wonderful day here in kalispell!

First we went downtown and walked around. We saw an old library-which was donated by the Carnegie family (Andrew Carnegie was a fortunate man who was able to work for a wealthy man who taught him how to read. Andrew believed that reading was something that everyone - not just the wealthy - should be able to enjoy. His family then began to donate money for public libraries. You can recognize most based on the pillar characteristic. Central memorial is one in calgary!) the library is now a museum.

We then saw an old school which is also a museum.

We went to a used bookstore called bookshelf, it was super cute!! I really liked it. Not only did they have a wonderful arrangement of books but also soap, jewelry, journals, and friendly, knowledgable staff! The atmosphere was nice and the decor was simple yet appealing. The ends of the shelves looked really cool! A collection of book pages -

We went to eat at this place called Norms News. Which was really neat!!!
It was like a newsstand so there was a full wall of newspapers and magazines!!
It was also like a candy shop with lollipops, fudge, and candy bins.
It was also like a diner with burgers, fries, shakes, and soda!

We order we burgers, a grilled cheese, and half an order of fries - the heaping serving would be way too much for the three of us. I ordered a roger roys - which was a delish version of cherry cola.
And for dessert we ordered a drink called .... Vienna ... Something? It had a shot of espresso, two scoops of ice cream, topped with cold milk, and whipped cream!! It was a sophisticated, adult version of a float. Or a less sweet, fancier ice Capp!! Yum!

We then went to the Conrad mansion. Definitely worth the tour. It was a beautiful mansion with great tour guides filled with tons of amazing stories and facts. You would be blown away by some of the furniture. Amazed by the efficiency of the appliances. Astonished by the character of the house. And touched by the qualities of the Conrad family.
There's also a cat!

We then went to go meet our parents at church and obz it was raining. We had to make some emergency rain gear with what we have.
Purse tip #1 umbrellas are always a good thing to keep in there.

Or else you'll end up looking like me

Wow that was a long one. High five if you're still reading
